Bostrom Seating 90th anniversary badge – celebrating 90 years, proudly made in the USA

For nine decades, the seat behind the wheel of America’s trucks has carried the Bostrom name. Bostrom Seating is now marking its 90th year – a milestone few manufacturers in any industry get to claim, and one built on a simple idea that has held from the start, that a driver who sits better works better.

Nine Decades of Truck-Seat Innovation

Bostrom Seating began in Wisconsin in the 1930s, when a long day in a truck still meant a hard bench and a stiff back at sundown. Our company set out to fix that. Early on, we introduced suspension technology that put real cushioning between the driver and the road, including the torsion suspension and, later, the hydraulic suspension seat. Those advances earned our brand its reputation for comfort and durability, and that reputation followed as the trucking industry grew.

Built in Piedmont, Alabama

The work eventually moved south to Piedmont, Alabama, where Bostrom Seating continues to distribute its seats today, while manufacturing now takes place in Vonore, Tennessee. In Alabama, our company took on a problem the market had largely ignored: seats built for only one size of driver. Bostrom answered with wider cushions and broader support – the foundation of the Wide Ride platform that owner-operators now know. It was a practical fix to a practical complaint, and it stuck.

Comfort Engineered for the Long Haul

Ninety years in, the mission reads the same, but the engineering has never stopped moving. Modern Bostrom seats pair air-ride suspension with ergonomic support designed to cut the fatigue that builds over a long haul. The aim is the mile that feels shorter, the back that holds up on day five of a run, and the driver who climbs down at the end of a shift with something left in the tank. For a working truck, comfort is part of doing the job safely – it helps keep a driver alert through the back half of a long day.

Ninety Years, One Customer

Longevity like this is not an accident. Bostrom Seating is part of Commercial Vehicle Group, and we manufacture our products in the United States, in the same Alabama plant where our seats are tested against the conditions drivers actually face. Ninety years of building for one customer – the person who spends a working life in the cab – has taught us what holds up and what doesn’t. That hard-won knowledge is the real product.

To the drivers, fleets, and dealers who have trusted Bostrom seats across three generations of trucks, we thank you. This 90th anniversary belongs to you as much as to the people who build the seats. The road ahead calls for the same thing the last nine decades did – a seat that shows up for work every day and gets the job done.

Bostrom Seating has spent ninety years earning its place in the cab, and it intends to keep it. As our company likes to say, we’re here for the long haul.
